Reportero: Screening and Conversation

In collaboration with Human Rights Watch and POV

Mexico is one of the deadliest places in the world to be a journalist. Reporters who dare to cover the country’s war on drugs are all too often kidnapped or assassinated for doing their jobs. In the feature documentary, “Reportero,” a veteran reporter and his colleagues at an independent newsweekly in Tijuana defy the drug cartels and corrupt government officials to continue reporting the news.

For the second installation of our Social Cinema Series, we invite you to an advance screening of, “Reportero,” followed by a discussion on journalism’s contribution to society and the new state of Mexican politics.
